Is a baby swing right for your baby?

Baby swings are amazingly useful devices that rock your baby and help soothe them. Your typical baby swing will go forward and backward but there are many other baby swings that go from side to side, let your baby bounce, or do a combination of all three.

When deciding on a baby swing, you should consider a few factors and these include the baby's age, weight, and whether you want a wind-up swing or an electric one. A very small infant will have to have a reclining baby seat because they can't quite hold their head up yet but as they get older, a normal seat would be just fine. Your baby's weight is important to consider as well. For most babies, a swing will work from 10 pounds to about 50 pounds so if your baby is very small or a little bigger than average, you will have to read the swing documentation carefully to prevent injury.

Something many people overlook when buying a baby swing is what makes it move. Wind up swings are very basic and usually won't have a lot of special features but you won't have to worry about replacing batteries. If you get a swing that takes batteries, you should invest in a set of rechargeable batteries as swings can suck down four D batteries in just a couple days.

A good place to start looking for baby swings and baby learning toys is your local toy store or supermarket.

  4. Choosing a right swing is not a difficult task but parents should buy a comfort and secure baby swing and should follow your instruction during buying a baby swing.
